Engaging Learners with New Strategies and Tools (October 20, 2013)

  1. Hi Vaughn!
    Great graphic organizer! Indeed, distance education effectively engage learners and instructors to provide a positive interdependence among participants (Anderson, 2008). In a distance learning environment, a student’s success positively might influence the chances of
    other students’ successes. Individual accountability involves students responsibility for their own learning;
    and each student is responsible for helping other group members learn. Thus, promotive interactions occur when individuals encourage and facilitate each other’s efforts to accomplish the goal of the group.

    1. Hello Vaughn,

      I love your graphic organizer! I love the way you thoroughly supported it with the course texts/required reading. I am wondering though........with all these professor supports in place do you think it is possible that adult learners can too "fall through the cracks" and how do we avoid this?

    2. Hi Alison -

      Thank you for your comments. Yes, adult learners can fall through the cracks if they are not mindful of their progress within an online course. I think this is why it is necessary for learners to know course work expectations for every DE course they take. A course syllabus is certainly helpful. Learners are responsible for asking clarification questions.
